We do our best to keep the most comprehensive and up-to-date database of cellular towers. However, sometimes it takes time to do so worldwide. If you're aware of a tower that is not showing up in the main view, you can try performing a Power Search. If it still doesn't show up, it would be awesome if you could contribute by providing all the details you have so we can add it.
When you first open the app, you should see a map centered at your location and shortly after carrier icons appear on it. If you do not see a map, it means there is a connection issue.
When you open the app for the first time, it will ask for permission to access your GPS coordinates. This is used to locate you and load nearby towers. If you are seeing the map centered in San Francisco instead of your actual location, it means you either did not allow location services for the app or the GPS didn't return coordinates.

Although the app automatically caches data, an internet connection is essential initially to find towers for your location.
